Open Farm, a premium pet food brand made from the world’s most responsibly sourced ingredients, has announced the appointment of three seasoned consumer marketing and digital leaders to its senior leadership team, marking a significant step in the company’s accelerated growth strategy.
Open Farm has named John Winer as Chief Digital Officer. In this role, Winer will lead the company’s digital strategy, including direct-to-consumer growth, Amazon marketplace, Autoship subscriptions, and digital experience. With a strong background in ecommerce strategy and digital transformation, he brings experience scaling digital growth and customer experience across complex brand portfolios, including leadership roles at Unilever Prestige and Living Proof, positioning him to elevate Open Farm’s digital capabilities at scale.
“I’m very excited to join Open Farm at a pivotal moment in its growth,” said Winer. “I look forward to leading the next phase of the brand’s digital evolution.”
Trevor Koons has been appointed Vice President of Growth, a newly created role shaping Open Farm’s full-funnel acquisition and retention strategy. With prior experience at Adidas, Material Bank, and Hanna Andersson, Koons is charged with architecting and optimizing performance across paid and emerging channels to accelerate growth and maximize lifetime value. His deep understanding of ecommerce platforms and consumer behavior will be instrumental as Open Farm evolves its performance marketing engine.
“As a pet parent and longtime Open Farm customer myself, the brand’s mission really resonates with me,” said Koons. “I’m excited to drive scalable growth while helping more pet parents discover and connect with the brand.”
Open Farm has also appointed Maria Chilewicz as Vice President of Marketing, another net-new role that will oversee the company’s full marketing function. Chilewicz joins from a range of high-growth consumer brands, with leadership experience spanning Who Gives A Crap, Dollar Shave Club, Coty, and Procter & Gamble. Known for turning consumer insight and storytelling into measurable growth, she will lead the development of integrated strategies that build brand awareness, deepen loyalty, and elevate Open Farm’s presence with pet parents and channel partners, including neighborhood pet.
“Open Farm has a rare combination of strong values and big ambition. I’m excited to help take the brand to new heights, sharpening its story, elevating its presence, and building something iconic,” said Chilewicz. “My focus is on long-term brand growth rooted in trust, quality, and a deep respect for the people who love their pets like family.”
These strategic appointments strengthen Open Farm’s ability to scale its omnichannel footprint and reinforce the company’s mission-driven culture. With a focus on customer acquisition, brand building, and digital experience, the leadership team is positioned to support accelerated growth in a competitive pet category landscape.
“John, Trevor, and Maria each bring deep expertise, fresh perspective, and a proven ability to scale brands and teams,” said Karen Sampogna, Chief People Officer, Open Farm. “As we enter our next phase of growth, their leadership will be critical in strengthening our marketing and digital capabilities while reinforcing a culture grounded in our mission and values.”
