You might have heard of humans relying on their dogs to help them get through a tough week, but this adorable Instagram video of a Mastiff reaching his paw out in need of support proves that the opposite is also true. Instagram user @natethepresa shared the video, showing that Nate, their dog, needs his dose of emotional support from his dad.
Dog needs dad’s ‘support’ in adorable video
In the adorable video, this giant dog decided to flip the script and demand some serious paw-holding time from his human dad. You see Nate sitting on the couch, but he isn’t lounging like a normal dog. He is sitting straight up on his bottom like a human who just had a really long day at the office. Besides, he has this super serious, stoic look on his face.
But the best part of the video is when the dog stretches out his front paw and plants it firmly in his owner’s hand. He isn’t letting go. His owner is just sitting there, serving as an anchor for the needy Nate, joking, “When you’re your dog’s emotional support animal,” via the on-screen caption. Moreover, the Mastiff‘s dad even called out Nate’s surprisingly sophisticated posture in the caption, asking, “Why do I feel like he should be wearing a turtleneck when he acts like this?”
Viewers in the comments became immediate fans and were all about this role reversal. One person joked that if the dad is going to do this full-time, he needs the official uniform, writing, “Dad needs a ‘Working Do Not Pet’ vest.” Another viewer agreed that Nate looked a little too dignified for just a regular collar, adding, “Maybe not a turtle neck, but DEFINATELY an Ascot!!… He sits there so Regal looking!”
Whatever the dog is going through, the video at least shows that he knows his dad has his back — or rather, his paw.
